Vineet Jainn is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Volvin Limited which has introduced India's 1st AIF Volvin Growth Fund – Active Rabbit focused on the Covered Call Strategy. This is a conservative equity strategy which delivers superior risk adjusted returns and has a high Sharpe ratio. BlackRock defines Covered Call strategy as, “Making More by Losing Less”.In a very short span of less than 2 years, the fund Volvin Growth Fund – Active Rabbit has been ranking among the top 3 funds in the Long Short category and ranks on top on Sharpe ratio, which is used to measure the risk-adjusted relative returns, not just in the long short category, but also in comparison to all mutual funds.
Jainn, wishes to prove to the conservative investors that higher returns can be achieved with lower risk. He wishes to instil confidence amongst investing community that derivatives are not merely speculative, but can be used for hedging and return generation. Covered Call strategy is an effective tool to not just reduce the volatility in the portfolio, but also to create alpha in a stagnant market.
With over 30 years of experience in equity markets, Jainn has successfully navigated through financial storms and has become a master of volatility. He is regarded as the thought leader on globally popular Covered Call strategy which is gaining popularity in India too. He has witnessed the storms of the Harshad Mehta period, the dot- com bust, and the subprime crisis of 2008, not to forget the recent Covid pandemic. He feels each crisis is an opportunity to learn and each failure is actually a spring board to success.
Before entering the financial markets fulltime, Jainn has spent over 20 years managing an auto component manufacturing and export business. However, his passion for the stock market and desire to make an impact led him to become a first-generation entrepreneur.
With a degree in Industrial & Production Engg and a Master's in Finance & Marketing from MDI Gurgaon, Jainn possesses a deep understanding of risk management and value investing. He feels each crisis is an opportunity to learn and each failure is actually a springboard to success.
During his time at MDI Gurgaon in 1997, Jainn introduced the first-ever all India stock market competition for top colleges and B-schools in collaboration with Business World. This competition gave the option to trade in derivatives & commodities even before these were launched in India by the respective exchanges, showcasing Jainn's early innovation in the field.
